The hallway lighting guide
Hallway lighting without new wiring.
Compare battery wall lights and cordless table lamps for a hallway without new wiring. Measure how far each fitting sticks out, check door clearance and compare battery life.
Compare the designs
01 / HALLWAY CLEARANCE
Measure how far the light sticks out.
In a narrow hallway, check the fitting’s projection from the wall. Open nearby doors and cupboards, and leave room for people carrying bags or wearing coats.
Camber is 60 cm long and 5 cm deep. Walton is 40 cm long and projects 15 cm. Sloane is 60 cm long and projects 11 cm. Compare depth as well as length.
For a narrow passage
Mark the full dimensions of the light. Keep it clear of doors and the space people need to walk past.
For a console table
A cordless table lamp needs no wall fixing. Measure the available space beside keys, trays and other items.
Use a paper outline on the wall and a ruler held out to the listed depth. Walk the route from both directions before committing to the position.
02 / COMPARE HALLWAY LIGHTS
Compare two wall lights and a table lamp.
Camber is the shallower wall light. Walton projects farther from the wall. Parker stands on a console or shelf.

The practical comparison
Compare the space each design needs.
A long fitting can still be shallow. Compare depth with your walking route, and treat a console lamp as a separate freestanding option.

|---|---|---|---|
| Camber£129.99 | Wall fitting: 60 cm long × 10 cm high × 5 cm deep. | USB rechargeable; three colour-temperature modes. Runtime not listed. | Mark the full 60 cm length and 5 cm depth near doors and coats. |

03 / EVERYDAY USE
Check brightness, battery life and charging.
Make sure the lighting is sufficient to see steps, thresholds and the route through the hallway.
Check the light output.
Check each model’s stated output and direction. A decorative wall or console lamp may need to work alongside other lighting to keep the hallway clearly lit.
Check hours per charge.
Walton lists up to approximately 4 hours per charge. Parker lists approximately 4–8 hours and a 1–2-hour charge. Runtime depends on brightness. Camber’s page does not list a verified runtime.
Check fixing and charging access.
Wall lights need the specified screws or adhesive. Leave charging connections within reach. In a rental, check which fixings are permitted.
The hallway collection also contains mains-wired designs. Read the power label on each product; use the battery-operated collection when cordless wall lighting is essential.

Hallway-lighting questions
How can I light a hallway without a socket nearby?
Compare a rechargeable wall light with a freestanding cordless table lamp. A wall light needs a suitable fixing; a table lamp needs a stable surface. Both need an accessible charging routine, so check runtime and controls for the exact product.
Which wall light is best for a narrow hallway?
Begin with the available clearance and listed projection. Camber has a listed 5 cm depth, while Walton projects 15 cm. The right fit depends on your passageway, doors and furniture, so mark the full dimensions before choosing.
Can a battery light stay on all night?
Only choose it for that use when the model’s stated runtime at your chosen brightness covers the required hours. Runtime varies with settings and battery condition. A large capacity figure alone does not prove overnight performance.
Does cordless mean no drilling?
No. Cordless describes the power supply. Wall plates may require screws or a specified adhesive. Check the mounting method and wall surface; a freestanding lamp avoids making a wall fixing.
